A. VAUCHEZ, I. Heullant-Donat et A. Grélois), à l’écrit cistercien (org.

Abstract : In 2015, the French State, owner of the site, the Département de l’Aube and the association ‘Renaissance de l’abbaye de Clairvaux’ celebrated the ninth centenary of the foundation of Clairvaux Abbey. This cultural year, registered as a national commemoration by the French Ministry of Culture and led by a scientific committee chaired by Professor André Vauchez, was an opportunity to continue the restoration work on the monument and to give a new impetus to research on the history of the Abbey and its filiation. The exhibition Clairvaux « L’aventure cistercienne », held at the Hôtel-Dieu-le-Comte of Troyes for six months (5th of June-15th of November 2015) under the direction of L. Veyssière and A. Baudin, has brought together for the first time since the late eighteenth century more than 150 archival documents, library manuscripts and works of art formerly held in the monastery. The continuation of the campaign to digitize the charter collection by the Archives départementales de l’Aube has made nearly 68,000 pages available online on the history of the buildings, the treasure and the daily and spiritual life of the monks. The three-dimensional reconstruction of the monastery, based on the confrontation between archival sources and new technologies, has provided new data on the architectural knowledge of the church of Clairvaux 2. Finally, three conferences devoted to the history of the Abbey and its filiation (org. A. Vauchez, I. Heullant-Donat and A. Grélois), to Cistercian practice of writing (org. L. Morelle and A. Baudin) and to Cistercian industry (org. P. Benoit, B. Rouzeau and J. Rouillard), whose proceedings are now published, renew claravallian historical studies and define the main scientific goals for next years.

Keywords : Keywords: Abbey of Clairvaux; Order of Cîteaux; Cistercian diplomatic studies; Cistercian industry; architecture.
